Taking Care of Business
Join ENGAGE Young Professionals in a discovery tour of Bartow's George W. Harris Jr. Runaway and Youth Crisis Shelter. Operated by Youth & Family Advocates, Inc., the shelter welcomes youth in crisis 24/7/365, between the ages of 10-17 who are runway or homeless, kicked out by guardians, in need of short-term respite, requiring emergency shelter due to abuse, neglect, or trauma, and experiencing foster home disruption. Participants will see firsthand the resources provided at the shelter, including housing, food and clothing, life skills education, counseling, recreation, and case management. Services are funded through the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice via the Florida Network of Youth & Family Services, Inc., the Florida Department of Children and Families, and by donations from partners and individuals. There is no cost to children or their families.
